Faith Formation Commission
The central vision of the Faith Formation Commission is to foster a life-long journey of prayer, faith formation, religious education and spiritual nourishment. The goals of the commission are:
- holiness of life (deepening of relationship with Christ in everyday life)
- active participation in the Christian community,
- service to God and neighbor.
Adult faith formation is concerned with the ongoing faith life of adults. It asks the question: What do adults within the parish community need in order to grow in their faith?
The introduction to the USCCB's Pastoral Plan for Adult Faith Formation, "Our Hearts Were Burning" states:
"We seek to form parishes that are vitally alive in faith. These communities will provide a parish climate and an array of activities and resources designed to help adults more fully understand and live their faith."
They identified six dimensions of adult faith, each of which they described as "a fundamental aspect of Christian life and a foundational content area for adult faith formation."
- Knowledge of the faith
- Liturgical life
- Moral formation
- Prayer
- Communal life
- Outreach/social action.
Adult Faith Enrichment desires to bring adults, youth to seniors, into a deeper personal and communal relationship with Jesus Christ. It aims to build households of faith in our neighborhoods and places of study and work.
Faith that is formed through ongoing study, prayer, participation in enrichment opportunities, as well as nourished in word and sacrament will effectively pass the richness of our faith on to the next generation.
We offer opportunities for our adult community through on-going Scripture study, prayer services, parish missions, and guest speakers who cover a wide range of faith related topics.
