John D’Isacco went to the seminary in 1951 to study for the priesthood. He was age 14. He spent 11 years at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, where he received an outstanding education. He left the seminary in 1962.
John has done several years of formal post-graduate studies in Catholic Theology at Loyola Marymount and devoted years of personal research of the Books of the Bible.
Having studied the Sacred Scripture most of his life, John began teaching it at American Martyrs Church in 1997. For the past 28 years John has shared his knowledge of the Bible in formal classes, both in person and virtually on Zoom. Currently each month John focuses on a chapter in the Gospels (presently in Luke’s Gospel) via Zoom to “students” locally and as far away as Texas and Ireland.
Before the 8:00 AM Mass on most Sundays, he presents to the congregation in church a 5-minute Commentary about the Scripture readings. He tends to favor the Old Testament texts because they are less familiar to most people.
Seasonally, John offers a Presentation on the Faith of Our Founding Fathers and on The Stories Behind the Christmas Carols.
To date, John and Mary have led 4 Pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus. A fifth trip is planned for January 2025.
